Respected Sir/Madam,

We are delighted to inform you that we are celebrating the 150^th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhiji. It is the duty of every human being, especially every Indian citizen, to follow the footsteps of the Mahatma and adopt Ahimsa (non-violence), Desha-bhakti (love for the motherland), Sathya (truth) and Shrama-daana (hard work) as the “Thaaraka-manthras” or cardinal values in life. 

As you will surely agree, it is extremely important that the youth of our country imbibe these values that were taught by Gandhiji not just through precept but by practice. This task of training our youth in this aspect, is perhaps one of the most important contributions that we can make towards nation-building, for the youth are the nation’s future, and their value-systems will dictate India’s destiny. This is an opportune moment for us to resurrect Gandhiji’s life and times in the minds of our youth, as a definitive step in this direction.

The students in the final year of school, now stand at the cusp of a new beginning. They would be joining higher educational institutions all over the country and indeed the world, to chalk their future paths. It is therefore essential that we all come together to infuse these values into the 12^th Standard students to prepare their internal dimension for the very near future.

At this juncture I would like to state that Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College, has been recognized as among the TOP 10 Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu by Anna University, for academic excellence right from its inception and well known for excellent placement record. It is also well known for its commitment to inculcating values and ethics among the students.

Hence, as part of the 150^th year birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhiji we at Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College have conceived of an Inter-School Quiz Competition for high school students in Chennai. The Quiz will be on General Knowledge and will also have two rounds that are focused on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and the values he preached.

The preliminary and final round are slated for 5^th December, 2018 at our college premises from 10.00am, for which I request you to nominate at least 10 teams from your school, each team comprising 2 students from the 12^th Standard. From the total participants, 27 teams will be shortlisted and out of which 8 teams will be selected for the finals.  

Prizes worth more than Rs. 3.5 lakhs are up for grabs. The details of the prizes are given below:

I Prize             -          Rs.1,00,000/- (Rs.50,000/- for each student in the team) +   

                                   TVS Scooty Pep+ From TVS MOTORS for each student.

II Prize            -          Rs. 60,000/-  (Rs.30,000/- for each student in the team) +

                                    Laptop from  HYUNDAI MOTOR INDIA for each student.

III Prize           -         Rs. 40,000/-  ( Rs.20,000/- for each student in the team) +

                                   TABLET FROM SUPER AUTO FORGE for each student.

Consolation      -        Rs. 50,000/-  (for 5 teams) (Rs.5000/- per each student) +

                                   Gift Vouchers worth  Rs.2000 each. Sponsor Nalli Chinnasamy Chetty & Sons.

                                   Rs. 54,000/-  (for 9 teams) (Rs.3000/- per each student) +

                                   Gift Vouchers worth  Rs.2000 each. Sponsor Nalli Chinnasamy Chetty & Sons.

                                   Rs. 40,000/-    (for 10 teams) (Rs.2000/- per each student) +

                                   64 GB Pendrives for each student From Qaudsel.

The first three school which sponsors more number of teams will be honoured recognizing their thirst for excellence.

All participants will be issued with participation certificates after the valedictory function.

In addition to the above, the schools of the prize winners will also be recognized.  Registration (refer www.msec.edu.in/mseccontest ) closes on 4^th December 2018 at 5.00pm.

Lunch & Evening snacks Provided

Participants are requested to come with ID card and bonafide certificate issued by the Principal. We also invite the parents and teachers to participate in the prize distribution function at 3.00pm.
